Arnold Public Affairs worked with the Mortgage Insurance Companies of America this past session to pass legislation that would allow the Texas Insurance Commissioner, after careful review, to relax requirements for mortgage insurers so they could continue to write private mortgage insurance for home buyers who cannot afford to pay at least twenty percent down when purchasing a home. Without this legislation, these companies may have hit their limits and stopped writing this type of insurance, which would have stalled the housing recovery in the state.
