Jim Arnold will speak at the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Participation’s Executive Communication Training on January 15, 2011. The Executive Communication Training program is geared at professionals interested in improving their communities. This training will focus on practical skills for the 82nd Texas Legislative Session and will be led by active communication professionals from Texas and Washington, D.C., who will help participants learn techniques and tactics such as:
Finding Your Narrative – how to craft your story and effectively communicate to your key stakeholders
How to Make the Ask– Practical skills for advocating on behalf of your cause, your organization or yourself
Speaking to the Media – Staying on message & framing your issue
The Art of Testimony – Honing your advocacy skills
Mobilizing Through Social Media – How to make effective use of the newest online tools
Jim will be discussing how advocates, particularly those who represent non-profit organizations, can provide effective testimony to decision-makers
The Annette Strauss Institute was established by the University of Texas at Austin and is devoted to increasing engagement in the civic process, especially in young people. The institute performs research and provides trainings geared at increasing civic participation.
